Unity Data Collection Hardware

ComputerWise - Fixed Location
Videx LaserLite Pro - Portable

The Unity Data Collection System offers support of a variety of portable and fixed location data collection hardware.  Portables provide the ultimate flexibility in terms of where data can be collected.  While, fixed location terminals like the ET215 provide users a tool for collecting data in a real-time fashion.  And, they also offer the opportunity for "live" validation of input data.

Fixed Location (Stationary) Solutions

US Software's fixed location data collection terminals come in two basic varieties, Ethernet and TNET.  The ET210 Series of Ethernet Terminals are low-cost data collection devices that communicate with a software application program (such as RTPe) over a TCP/IP network.  This means that users can utilize their existing Ethernet Network Infrastructure.  These Etherenet terminals attach to the network just like a PC, Printer, or other network peripheral.

The second variety of terminals is the TNET Series.  "TNET", which stands for TransTerm NETwork, is the equipment (hardware) and interconnecting cable which together form an interactive data collection system. RTP (TNET Edition) software is used to integrate TNET into the Unity Data Collection Suite. TNET supports a separate private network of TransTerm terminals and is controlled by the TIM1B network controller which connects to your host computer system via an RS-232 serial communications port.

Beyond the TIM1B (RS-422 communications), the network consists of TLD2 hubs and Data entry Terminals. Up to four terminals or TLD2s can be connected directly to a TIM1B. The TLD2s (Hubs) can be interspersed up to 2000 feet apart with one to six terminals connected to each TLD2. The network is interconnected with eight-conductor modular telephone cable  which installs quickly and easily.

Regardless of whether your company chooses the Ethernet or the TNET hardware solution, both will provide reliable low cost bar code data collection.
