Unity System Module
The System Module is the core of the Unity Data Collection Suite. It's purpose is to tie all of the modules together and to give a central location for company setup, user security, and system maintenance functions such as rebuilding indexes. Additionally the System module offers report and label modification tools.

- Toolbar has links to open pocket terminal option instead of terminal emulation and also the menu has been changed to match this functionality.
- Terminal Emulation has been now replaced by the more powerful Pocket Terminal.
- Pocket Terminal, now opens faster when linked to ALERE CS (Microsoft SQL Server).
- AutoAM, a new program specifically
designed for automatic posting to ALERE Accounting Software for inventory
transactions posted in Unity. With this new application, performance
has been improved by giving the automatic posting application it's own
executable. The function still exists in RTPe, but with the new AutoAM,
performance is improved.
Software Features
- Pocket PC Terminal program for
use with terminal services. This application can be run through the terminals
services client on your pocket PC device and designed to fit on the small
screens of most Pocket PC and Windows Mobile devices. Or the Pocket PC
Terminal can be used on a standard PC and utilized as a data collection
station. Data entered through the Pocket Terminal is validated in
real-time against the appropriate database. An additional feature of
the Pocket Terminal is that it displays the name of the employee in the last
scanned field after an employee's badge has been scanned. This helps
to provide end-users with a verification that their badge scanned properly.
For security purposes, the time can be gathered from the server instead of
the individual workstation. This prevents the enduser from
manipulating the clock times by changing the time on the workstation.
Item labels can be printed from the Pocket Terminal. Users can also use the Pocket Terminal for item look-up. Quickly find the
location of a given item simply by scanning the items barcode. The
screen also displays the current on hand quantity at each location.
(This feature works in conjunctions with the ALERE accounting system
and Sage Pro Series while Unity is linked to ALERE or Pro.) Our
intelligent date entry provides the following
acceptable formats to make it easier for users to enter dates; MMDDYY, MMYY, MMDDYYYY, MM/DD/YY, MM/DD/YYYY,
and blank. The Pocket Terminal also
supports easier scanning of serial numbers for material transactions on the
shop floor. When processing transactions such as MI (Material Issue) or FG
(Finished Goods) the user can enter a quantity and then are prompted for
that number of serial numbers instead of needing to scan a separate
transaction for each serial number.
- RTPe Software Included The Real Time Polling Ethernet edition software is included with the System Module. The RTPe software provides auto-posting features as well as support for Computerwise Ethernet Data Collection Hardware.
- Multi-Company Support allows for up to 999 separate companies.
- User Level Security gives the administrator the ability to grant or deny access to the different processes within the software by each individual user. Each user has their own User ID and Password to use when logging into Unity. Each user can change their own password at anytime with the change password option. A password life setting allows users to specify the number of days that a password will last before it expires. The expiration date then forces users to change password at log-in once the password has expired. The passwords can also be optionally encrypted for added security.
- Terminal Emulation Screen can be used to replicate the functions of the Computerwise terminals on the PC for data entry puposes. The terminal emulation screen can validate entered data in real-time against the appropriate database files.
- Report and Label Modification Tools are built in.
- US Software’s Code 3 of 9 Bar Code Font is automatically installed with client installation.
- Open Transactions Screen, shows all open clock in transactions where the employee has not yet clocked out. It also provides a way to quickly clock out of a transaction where you are already clocked in.
The data can be filtered by transaction date.
- Centralized Import Functions Data import functions are centralized in a convenient area of the File menu. Thus combining the individual modules import functions into one single location.
- Auto Shutdown and System Messages features give users the ability to automatically shutdown Unity at a specified time. The new messaging feature allows for system messages to be broadcast to every Unity user.
- Pop-Up Calendar feature for all date entry fields.
- Long Filename Support allows for using long file names in data paths.
- Friendly, Easy to Use Interface. A User Defined Toolbar feature allows for customizing the toolbar for each user
