Q:  When I try to print a report with bar codes, the bar code prints, but appears to be italicized?
A:  You must first install both of the TIW "WS 3 of 9" bar code fonts.  Currently you likely have only the standard font installed and not the italic font.  Please refer to your TIW WorkShop manual for more details on installing these fonts.

Q:  When I try to print a report with bar codes, the bar code doesn't print?
A:  You must first install both of the TIW "WS 3 of 9" bar code fonts.  Please refer to your TIW WorkShop manual for more details on installing these fonts.

Q:  How do I limit access to certain users to certain functions?
A:  Unity Shop Floor supports User Level Security.  You can add users from the file menu by using the user maintenance screen.  From the user maintenance screen you can set up each individual user with their own level of access to the different functions within Shop Floor.

Q:  What type of cabling should I use with my TNET network?
A:  Category 5 four pair unshielded twisted paier (UTP) cable as used in standard LAN applications should be used for TNET networks.   The ends of the cable should be terminated with a straight pinned RJ-45 termination.  Below is a pin configuration diagram:

Pin #       Wire Color
1             Blue/White
2             White/Blue
3             Brown/White
4             White/Brown
5             Green/White
6             White/Green
7             Orange/White
8             White/Orange

Q:  Will the Unity Work Order Report support the WorkShop™ user defined fields?
A:  Yes, version 3.0 and higher support the WorkShop™ user defined route fields.  For version 3.1 and higher this feature is built in.  For version 3.0 it is necessary to install the User Defined Field Addendum.  For more information please contact your reseller or Unique Solutions Software, Inc. Technical Support.

Q:  How do I customize the Unity Work Order Report to include my user defined fields?
A:  Using Visual FoxPro or FoxPro Access, you need to modify the SFRPTUWO.FRX report form.  Each user defined field has a variable that represents it.  For fields on the route header the variables are udhvar1,udhvar2,udhvar3...udhvar20.  For fields on the route detail the variables are udovar1,udovar2,udovar3...udovar5.  The number of the variable corresponds with the number of the User Defined field in WorkShop™.  You simply modify the form and add text boxes with the variable as the expression.

Q:  Will Unity work with our existing HourGlass GDCS™?
A:  Yes, you can link Unity Shop Floor to your existing HourGlass GDCS™.  You can still use all of your existing hardware as well as the GDCS™ polling software.  For Y2K compliance we adjust the 2 digit century that GDCS™ produces in its data file to a 4 digit century.  Unity thus imports the TRX.DTA file from GDCS™ and processes it for posting into TIW WorkShop.

Q:  How long does it take to install Unity?
A:  It's difficult to determine an exact amount of time.  Factors, such as processor speed, amount of RAM, type of network (10BT, 100BT), etc. can affect the amount of time it takes to install the software.  However, the software generally only takes a few minutes to install and a few minutes more to setup.  The hardware setup also varies, depending on factors such as type of hardware, number of terminals, wiring, etc.

Q:  I want to modify the Unity Shop Floor module, where do I get started?
A:  Unity Shop Floor is made up of 2 Visual FoxPro project files.  The main system wide functions/screens are handled by the UNITY.PJX file and the Shop Floor specific programs/screens/reports/etc. are contained in the UNITYSF.PJX file.  Starting with the project files will show you the basic structure of how the systems is designed.  The UNITY project is compiled to an .EXE excecutable file and the UNITYSF project is compiled to an .APP application file.

Q:  When I start polling in Unity RTP all my stations show inactive and there are strange characters that show up there?
A:  This is usually caused by selecting the incorrect Communications Port.  Press CTRL-X to stop polling.  Click on the SETUP button.  Change your Comunications Port to the appropriate port.  If this doesn't fix the problem you may want to check your cables.

Q:  Why won't Unity RTP 1.1 take my employee badges?
A:  The badge number is a combination of the company code and the employee number.  The company code is setup by going to the Unity RTP setup screen and then pressing the COMPANY button.  Each company will have it's own individual 2 digit company code.  The employee number can be found in the Shop Floor module by going to the maintain menu and selecting employees.

Q:  Can I track labor costs if I don't have the TIW Cost module?
A:  Yes.  In shop floor if the TIW Cost module is not installed you can give each of your employees a labor rate.  This rate is then applied to each labor transaction that is posted for that employee (i.e. LC, LS, etc.).  You can also use standard labor rates.  By checking "Use Standard Labor Rates" in the company setup, the system automatically finds the employee ID $STANDARD for the appropriate labor grade and uses the labor rate for that $STANDARD employee record.  The labor grade is stored in the TIW WorkShop route file.
